No simultaneous submissions. Response: Finalists will be announced by September 15, 2008 Finalist Judge: Raymond Benson, national bestselling author of Sweetie's Diamonds and books in the James Bond series of novels Submit to: Rain Farm Press, P.O. Box 6322, Columbus, OH 43206 or contests@rainfarmpr ess.com ELIGIBILITY The contest is open to any novel manuscript that has not been published. Employees of Rain Farm Press, its subsidiaries and affiliates, and members of their families and households are not eligible. Foreign-language manuscripts and translations are not eligible. FORMAT FOR SUBMISSIONS BY MAIL 1. An electronic version of the novel must be made available if selected as the winner. 2. Manuscripts should be a minimum of 35,000 words. Include a brief synopsis with your cover letter. 3. Each manuscript should have a cover page listing the title of the work and the author's name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address. The title should also appear on each manuscript page. 4. Manuscripts should be typed doublespaced on 8 1/2" by 11", good-quality white paper, and pages should be numbered consecutively. The type should be easy to read; preferably 12-point. The author should retain a copy of any manuscript submitted. 5. Photocopies are acceptable if readily legible and printed on good quality white (not gray) paper. Partial or illegible entries will not be acceptable. 6. Do not submit manuscripts in boxes. Padded envelopes are perfectly fine. The publisher is not responsible for late, lost, misdelivered, or misplaced submissions. 7. Please enclose a business-size stamped, self-addressed envelope for notification only. Please do not enclose checks for postage. Due to new postal regulations, the publisher cannot return any manuscripts. All submissions will be recycled by Rain Farm Press after they are read. 8. Box 6322, Columbus, OH 43206. JUDGING 1. The judges are the editors of Rain Farm Press and bestselling novelist Raymond Benson. 2. The judges' decision will be final. 3. The editors of Rain Farm Press are unable to offer critiques of manuscripts or enter into correspondence about the manuscripts other than with the winning author. 4. The winner will be announced by September 15, 2008. PRIZE DETAILS The winner will receive a cash prize of $500; publication and distribution of their book through Rain Farm Press in Winter 2008; an interview and excerpt feature in the October issue of our journal Paradigm; and three (3) complimentary copies of their book. A standard publishing contract will be given. CONTEST FEE The fee for this contest is $20 per manuscript.
